Declan Brooks - BMX Freestyle Bronze Medalist from Tokyo 2020 has joined BMX Academy to share his Olympic journey with school children.
An inspirational story story of a quiet boy from Portsmouth who found a passion that led him to the Olympic podium!
Declan's Olympic Inspiration morning is all about encouraging children to follow their heart, work hard and dream big.
A normal visit includes Declan delivering a whole school assembly
followed by a trick display
and classroom visits
to meet all children, let them hold an Olympic medal and answer any questions.
He uses the Learning Pit
concept to explain how, courage, effort and perseverance enabled him to work through the struggles he faced following his dream to become a professional BMXer. Also how the same skills helped him bounce back from huge injuries and can help us all to get through the pit to learn difficult things in class.
Declan shares stories from performing in Cirque Du Soleil, featuring in the Mary Poppins Movie, competing all over the world with his role models and his ambitions for Paris 2024.

"Declan was great throughout the whole morning. The assembly was very inspirational and it was great to hear him talk about his set backs and how he recovered from these (going through the Learning Pit).
The tricks were amazing and it was really good for the children hear about everything and then see some of the skills that Declan has."
